At Athlete Lab - Performance Chiropractic, we focus on correcting the root cause of your movement restrictions and pain—not just masking symptoms. Because of that, we don’t do quick, "pop-and-go" adjustments. Every session is a comprehensive, 1-on-1 experience integrating deep manual soft tissue work, targeted joint adjustments, and active biomechanical rehab to make your structural changes stick.
What to wear: Please wear active clothing that you can easily move in (gym shorts, a t-shirt, athletic top, etc.), as we will be transitioning off the table and onto the gym floor for exercise rehab.

Operating as a transparent, cash-based practice allows us to provide a drastically higher standard of care. Insurance companies heavily restrict how much time a doctor can spend with a patient and often dictate what treatments are “allowed”. To make those low insurance payouts work, many high-volume clinics pull the doctor away after a 5-minute adjustment and leave you with an assistant.
At Athlete Lab - Performance Chiropractic, your entire session is strictly 1-on-1 with Dr. Matt. This model ensures you get a full, customized combination of advanced soft tissue work, structural care, and functional rehab without insurance companies cutting your session short.
Out-of-Network Reimbursement: If you have out-of-network chiropractic coverage, we are happy to provide you with an itemized medical Superbill at the end of your care, which you can submit directly to your insurance provider for potential personal reimbursement.

Absolutely. Because chiropractic care, clinical soft tissue therapy, and physical rehabilitation are classified as qualified medical expenses, we accept all Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards at checkout. You can securely store your HSA/FSA card right inside your Jane App patient portal for automatic, seamless checkout after your sessions.

No, you do not! While Athlete Lab - Performance Chiropractic is proudly located inside the premier training facilities at Long Beach Rising, our clinical space is fully open to the public. If you are a non-member, simply let the front desk staff know you are here for your appointment with Dr. Matt when you arrive, and they will direct you straight back to the clinic floor.

No referral needed — ever. You can book directly online in under two minutes. Just show up in athletic clothing you can move in, and we'll take it from there.
If you're coming from a physician, physical therapist, or coach who referred you, that context is always helpful — but it's never a requirement to get started.

That depends entirely on what we find. Most athletes see meaningful progress within 3–6 sessions — enough to identify the root cause, clear the primary restrictions, and get your movement patterns headed in the right direction.
That said, if you're dealing with a chronic issue that's been building for years, or you're preparing for a competition and want to build real structural durability, one of our Performance Packages keeps you consistent at a discounted rate.
We'll give you an honest assessment at your first visit and never recommend more sessions than you actually need.

Most chiropractic visits follow the same script: a few minutes on the table, a quick adjustment, and a handout of stretches to do at home. It feels productive in the moment — but if nothing about how you move actually changes, you'll be back for the same problem in six weeks.
Athlete Lab - Performance Chiropractic is built around a different model. Every session combines deep soft tissue work, structural adjustment, and active movement rehab — all in one visit, all 1-on-1 with Dr. Matt. We use PRI concepts to address the breathing mechanics and neurological patterns that drive chronic asymmetry, and we finish every session on the gym floor making sure your new range of motion actually sticks.
The goal isn't to keep you coming back forever. It's to fix the root cause, build your durability, and get you back to doing what you love — better than before.
